Vasquez - Stay Frosty

So I think i've finished my favorite piece to date.  This piece as you can tell is Aliens Movie inspired and i'm calling the figure herself "Vasquez".  This miniature has not been released to the public yet as it's for an unreleased game called Sulphur. I'm not sure when the game is coming out but if all the miniatures for it are this awesome it's going to be one worth waiting for.
The alien eggs are from the old 1988 54mm range from AEF Designs now out of print.  I happened across a set on Ebay and picked them up for fairly cheep.  Of course I had my boyfriend make a mold of them so I could have as many as I needed.  It felt wrong to use the originals for some reason.
The base you should recognize from a few posts ago (Here) and it's come a long way since then.  I enjoyed playing with the colors on the alien portion of the base. I actually ended up using a piece of lichen as a texture pad and built up a lot of colors in it that way.  Of course there are a bunch of different color washes on it as well.  I wanted to make sure it didn't blend into the military green background of the rest of the base.  Any questions please leave a comment.  Now onto the pictures!

Queen of Shadows - Freebooter

Here is a miniature I didn't expect to paint up,  it just sort of happened.  WAMP forum holds many contests and the Freebooter contest is one of them.  My BFF just happened to have a few laying around and passed them onto me, since she was never going to get to them and I paint a lot more than she does. So I pulled out my favorite and started cleaning her up and planning the base.
I wanted to do something simple since I'm still working on my previous miniature's base and it is hours away from being done (yet oh so close).
Now even though she is for a contest she is no winning piece. I paint just for the journey and enjoyment of painting. I know I could never win any contest on WAMP because there are already so many amazing painters on the forum I don't stand a snowball's chance in hell.
But I did take the opportunity to learn / practice painting sheer materials.   I went through a lot of time painting her stockings sheer only to discover you can only see them from one angle.
For those that are interested Portal Magazine had a great tutorial in it, Issue 21 I think. Also there is still plenty of time to paint up a miniature and enter the contest.
Anyways I hope you enjoy her as much as I do.
